Shelby's Braces 2-11-09

Back in October of last year Shelby had 9 teeth removed to make way for braces. She did really well and was back at school the next morning. (late of course) Well finally, last Wednesday she got her braces on. She was really excited until the pain set in. I was surprised to see that she did better having 9 teeth pulled than getting the braces put on. Go Figure!

Potty Training Scandal!

So today I officially started potty training my 2 1/2 year old son. Here he is in his Thomas the Train Big Boy Underwear with a ring of chocolate around his mouth. The day started off pretty good and then I made a big mistake. I told him that if he would tell me when he needed to go and then actually go potty, I would give him a Hershey's Kiss. Well once he got the first one it was on. Every 5 minutes he was like I need to go potty. So we would go to the bathroom and he would go a little and then clap and cheer and say, "My candy?" So I would go and get him a piece of candy. After about 5 or 6 times I was like that is it no more candy. Well by this time the candy had kicked in and he was literally running circles in the living room. He ran and ran and ran. Finally he was so exhausted he went and laid on the couch. After about 20 minutes I hear him calling for me -- he had wet the floor. Honestly after going about 6 times in row I did not really think he had any left in him. I was wrong. Oh well, we will start all over again tomorrow.

Slumdog Millionare--Sister Event

Today my sisters and I went to see Slumdog Millionaire at the movies. The photo to the right is my sister Kelly with the Friday the 13Th guy. The movie was really good just left you a little depressed. It is the story of 2 brothers surviving on the streets of India. It is hard to get your mind around all the terrible things that happen to these brothers on the streets. I guess the really sad part is that so many children in India this is a reality not just a movie. Even though the ending was suppose to be happy-- One brother won millions of rupees (Love Rupees!) and ended up with his first love- lady lumps---you still left feeling bad for all the other children who are not so lucky. After the movie we went to eat at the Olive Garden. All in all a good day with my Sisters!!!

I'm Stuck

I thought I would go ahead and add this story and photo from yesterday. I let Rhett out to play on the back deck while I was working in the kitchen. He started calling for me saying, "I'm stuck, I'm stuck." I went out side to see what he was doing and he had put on work boots and gloves and could not get them off. Pretty cute, if I do say so myself.

My First Blog! Happy Valentine's Day!

Not sure what to write about. Maybe I will get better at this as I go! Today we spent most of the morning making valentines and delivering them. I took the kids out to eat for lunch. Shelby chose the Coach House, that is her favorite place to go and eat spaghetti. As always Rhett caused a little of a scandal when he poured his honey mustard across my plate. Chicken Tenders Parmesan with honey mustard -- Not Good. Shelby started her own blog page today (the crazy life of spoom) while I cooked supper. And now I am writing my first blog!!
